BeFit London

Last weekend I attended BeFit London having been a lucky winner from a competition ran by Juiven 8 as well as winning a goodie bag of protein juices.

I have to say BeFit just gets better and better each year. This year saw it open it’s doors at the Business Design Centre in Angel, Islington. A modern exhibition hall where the event was spread over three floors as well as a bespoke fitness studio.

1st floor – entrance and Total Greek Kitchen demonstrating live cookery

2nd floor – exhibitors; sports & health brands, snacks, protein juices

3rd floor – Reebok fitness studio, massage parlor, health experts talk theatre and restaurant.

BeFit, UK’s best kept fitness secret event dedicated to health and fitness. As well as picking up top tips about wellness and nutrition from health experts, meet Olympic icons and discover over 125 finest brands ranging from coconut water to protein juices to workout gear. You also get the opportunity to take up some fitness classes with UK’s master trainers; Insanity, House of Voga, Boom Cycle, Leah Kim Yoga, Barry’s Bootcamp and more in the Reebok studio.

As a dedicated Leah Kim student there was no way I was going to pass off the opportunity of attending her Yoga masterclass so I had pre-booked in case I couldn’t get a walk-in space. As I had arrived early I managed to get a quick look around the stores before heading off to the yoga class. The class was taking place in the Reebok studio.

The people that had pre-booked were let in to the studio first, shelves were available for us to store our belongings after which we collected a mat and settled down in a space where we felt comfortable to start the yoga practice. I headed to the front of the room along with some friends.

Leah introduced herself and talked briefly about Yoga before inviting us to “set an intention” for her 90 minute yoga practiceShe explained an intention can be something deeply personal or something physical.

We were taken through a dynamic Vinyasa flow with some challenging poses which worked up a sweat.  But whenever it got too much there was always an option to settle back into child’s pose. Ending the practice with Savanasa, I felt totally relaxed. A great way to start a Sunday morning.

Now time to explore the exhibition and experiment all the unique brands. Any excuse to go shopping especially for new workout gear.  So many stalls, I didn’t know where to start? Only managed to snap a few shots of some of the brands I visited as I was too busy shopping.

One thing you shouldn’t forget is to take a #BreakYourSweat selfie at the Reebook stand

The last class of the day was Barry’s Bootcamp. I’ve only actually done this class once, and have to admit it was a some time ago. So was feeling a little nervous, but excited at the same time. Barry’s Bootcamp without the treadmills and weights, but still an intense class Anya made sure of that. The studio was filling up before I knew it was completely full which made the workout even better with so much people.

The music was pumping, we started off with some warm-ups to get the heart rate up butt kicks, high knees (it felt like we already started the workout). The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. Then came the intense sets of lunges, burpees, side plank with leg lifts, scissors jumps, planks, mountain climbers of reps of 30 secs and 1min. I could feel my legs burning and abs hurting, but I loved it.

A totally awesome workout and a great way to end the event. Will definitely like to tackle another full Barry’s Bootcamp class.

I would definitely recommend a visit to the BeFit festival. A great way to discover the latest in Health and Fitness and recognize unique brands. Listen to health expert’s advice on nutrition and take on new fitness classes that you’re never tried before. If only there was more time… still so much to see and fitness classes I wanted to try. I think a 2 day pass for this event could prove popular. These were a few of my favorite brands:-
